3. Otherwise, the overall sound of this album is a mix of 70s Sabbath, 80s metal/hard-rock, a bit of grunge (Soundgarden, Alice In Chains - which makes sense, as those bands were very Sabbath influenced!), but with Black Sabbath's signature slightly darker tone/5().

6. Now before you start laughing at me, I wanted to say why I like this album. Back in I was “dating” a woman who was living with me at the time. Long story short, but a lot of the lyrics on the Forbidden album (in particular the songs Can’t Get Close Enough & Shaking off the Chains) really spoke to me a lot on a personal level.

7. Where their last album was an uneven but pleasant return to form, this is just the band going through the motions. "Get a Grip" takes its riff from Iommi's own "Zero the Hero" and totally wrecks it; "Can't Get Close Enough" is an awful power metal ballad; and "Shaking Off the Chains" might be the worst Tony Martin-fronted Sabbath song.
